Recently, SAIC MG officially launched the 2026 MG7, its flagship "ultimate B-segment sport sedan," with a total of four variants. Built around three core strengths-sporty aesthetic design, class-leading intelligent features, and a golden powertrain combination-the new MG7 stands out as the only fuel-powered sport sedan in the 150,000 RMB segment to offer an electric rear wing, the Qualcomm 8155 chip, and NGP high-level intelligent driving assistance. Facing fierce competition from new-energy vehicles, it redefines mobility choices for young consumers.
Exterior Design
The Ultimate Fusion of Sporty Aesthetics and Aerodynamics
The 2026 MG7 continues its signature fastback coupe design, with sleek body lines flowing naturally from the end of the A-pillar to the rear, outlining an elegant four-door coupe silhouette. A newly introduced Iceland Blue exterior color- inspired by the pure blue glow of glaciers- further enhances its youthful and dynamic visual identity.

Up front, the car features a blacked-out large-mouth grille, paired with Digital Hunter-Eye LED headlights and a shark-nose hood design, creating an aggressive and performance-oriented presence. Frameless doors and 19-inch multi-spoke wheels come standard across the range, while higher trims add blackened wheels with red brake calipers, pushing the sporty vibe to the max. At the rear, a full-width LED taillight strip with intricate internal detailing, combined with an adaptive three-stage electric rear spoiler (automatically deploying above 100 km/h) and quad real exhaust outlets, brings the performance atmosphere to a dramatic climax.
In terms of dimensions, the new MG7 measures 4884 mm in length, 1889 mm in width, and 1447 mm in height, with a 2778 mm wheelbase, positioning it firmly in the mid-size sedan segment. Rear-seat space is superior to rivals such as the Honda Civic and Volkswagen Sagitar, striking an ideal balance between sporty character and everyday family practicality.

Interior & Intelligence
A Smart Comeback for ICE Cars - Snapdragon 8155 + "Yuanshen" AI Large Model

The 2026 MG7 features a driver-oriented wraparound cockpit, highlighted by a 33-inch integrated dual-screen display, a flat-bottom sport steering wheel with paddle shifters, and integrated sport seats (optional Alcantara upholstery), creating a strong sense of driving excitement. A yacht-style electronic gear selector and metal-textured physical buttons further enhance the cabin's premium and upscale atmosphere.
The smart cockpit is a key focus of the upgrade. All variants come standard with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chipset, delivering near-instant response times and smooth multi-tasking performance. The Yuanshen AI large language model integrates features such as AI conversation, AI knowledge assistance, and AI vehicle control, while also supporting a "Dynamic Island"-style interface (including traffic light countdowns and real-time road condition alerts). In addition, full-scenario smartphone connectivity is supported, with compatibility for Huawei HiCar, Apple CarPlay, and Android CarLink, enabling seamless integration between the vehicle and mobile devices.

In terms of comfort features, the 2026 MG7 comes standard across the entire range with a BOSE audio system (9 speakers), front seat heating, and 256-color ambient lighting. Higher-spec models are upgraded to a 14-speaker BOSE Centerpoint immersive surround sound system, along with driver's seat ventilation and massage functions and an AR-HUD head-up display, delivering a premium, high-spec experience even from the entry level.
Powertrain & Handling
The Golden 2.0T + 9AT Combo, Enhanced by mCDC Suspension and E-LSD
Powertrain
The 2026 MG7 offers two turbocharged engine options:
> 1.5T + 7DCT: Maximum power of 188 hp, peak torque of 300 N·m, and a WLTC combined fuel consumption of 6.2 L/100 km, balancing city commuting and fuel efficiency.
> 2.0T + 9AT: Maximum power of 261 hp, peak torque of 405 N·m, 0–100 km/h acceleration in just 6.5 seconds, and a top speed of 230 km/h. Its performance rivals the Lynk & Co 03+, yet it is priced nearly ¥100,000 lower.

Handling
In terms of handling, the 2026 MG7 features a front MacPherson + rear multi-link independent suspension setup. High-end models are equipped with mCDC intelligent adaptive electronic suspension, allowing real-time adjustment of suspension stiffness to balance comfort and sportiness. The E-LSD electronic limited-slip differential effectively prevents wheel slip and enhances cornering traction. Combined with the X-MODE "Super Player" mode-which supports track mode, launch control, and adjustable exhaust sound-this setup fully satisfies young drivers' desire for a dynamic and fun driving experience.

Intelligent Driving

First Fuel Vehicle Equipped with NGP System, 22 Advanced Features Covering All Scenarios
The 2026 MG7 becomes the first fuel-powered vehicle equipped with the NGP advanced intelligent driving system, featuring 23 perception devices (5 cameras + 12 ultrasonic radars + 4 millimeter-wave radars + 2 high-precision map modules). It supports 22 functions, including ISC Intelligent Cruise, ALC Intelligent Lane Change Assist, ACC Adaptive Cruise Control, and AEB Automatic Emergency Braking, covering highways, urban traffic, and parking scenarios. Notably, the automatic lane-change overtaking feature allows one-click navigation to the destination, offering an intelligent experience comparable to that of new energy vehicles.
In a market dominated by new energy vehicles, the 2026 MG7 delivers a disruptive edge with a "100,000 RMB-level price + 300,000 RMB-level configuration," perfectly addressing young consumers' dual demand for sporty performance and smart technology. Its launch not only demonstrates the determination of traditional fuel-powered cars to fight back in the wave of intelligentization but also redefines the value standard of fuel-powered coupes with three core features: electric rear wing, Snapdragon 8155 chip, and NGP intelligent driving system.
