On April 22, the third mass-produced model under Buick's new energy sub-brand Electra-the Electra E7-was officially launched. The new model is offered in three variants and is positioned as a large five-seat plug-in hybrid SUV. With "American-style premium quality + full-scenario intelligent technology" as its core strengths, it directly addresses family users' diverse needs for space, range, and intelligent features.
Exterior Design
A Fusion of Futurism and Strength, Redefining American Luxury Aesthetics
The Electra E7 adopts Buick's "Pure Design" philosophy, combining clean lines with high-tech details to create a visual experience that balances futuristic appeal and practicality.

Front Design
The front features a closed grille paired with split headlight clusters. The upper "C"-shaped daytime running lights utilize three-dimensional light guide technology, while the lower boomerang-style lighting units support adaptive high/low beams and intelligent steering, improving nighttime illumination range by 25%. The active grille can automatically open and close based on driving conditions, optimizing aerodynamics and cooling efficiency.
Body Profile
With dimensions of 4,850 × 1,910 × 1,676 mm and a wheelbase of 2,850 mm, the design features a short front overhang and long rear overhang, creating an elongated silhouette. Semi-hidden door handles and 20-inch low-drag wheels (235/50 R20) reduce the drag coefficient to 0.29Cd. Combined with a floating roof design and roof-mounted LiDAR, it balances technology and aerodynamic performance.

Rear Highlights
The full-width taillight incorporates a 3D crystal-like texture, creating a "feather-spreading" dynamic lighting effect when illuminated. The central "BUICK" logo is illuminated, while the rear bumper features a large black trim panel and dual-exit exhaust styling (concealed in reality), enhancing the vehicle's sporty character.
Available in four color options-Ink Black, Satin Silver, Desert Gold, and Mountain Gray, catering to diverse personalization preferences.
Interior & Features
Panoramic Wraparound Cabin for an Immersive Smart Experience
The Electra E7 centers around a "panoramic wraparound cockpit", redefining luxury standards through optimized space and intelligent interaction.

Space Performance:
>> Seating Space:
The front row offers 1,020 mm of headroom, while the second row provides 980 mm of legroom. Combined with a flat floor design, all passengers can enjoy a comfortable ride even when the vehicle is fully occupied. The rear seats support 115°–125° stepless recline, and the top-spec version features four-seat floating-layer seats with zero-gravity mode and massage functions.
>> Storage Capacity:
The vehicle includes 32 storage compartments throughout the cabin. The trunk offers a standard capacity of 520 L, expandable to 1,560 L with the rear seats folded, easily accommodating strollers, camping gear, and other large items.

Intelligent Interaction:
>> Screen Setup:
An 8.8-inch full digital instrument cluster, 15.6-inch 2.5K central display, and 50-inch AR-HUD form a triple-screen interactive system, supporting multi-task split-screen display and voice control. The central screen is powered by Buick eConnect 4.0, integrating apps such as Amap, iQIYI, and QQ Music, and supporting wireless connectivity with HUAWEI HiCar and Apple CarPlay.
>> Audio & Ambient Experience:
The cabin is equipped with a 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos 20-speaker surround sound system, complemented by 256-color ambient lighting. It supports scenario-based modes such as Camping Mode and Cinema Mode, delivering an immersive in-car experience.
Powertrain
True Dragon PHEV Pro – Balancing Range and Performance
The Electra E7 is equipped with SAIC-GM's "True Dragon PHEV Pro" system, adopting a strategy of motor-dominant drive + large battery support to achieve an optimal balance between performance and efficiency.

Power Specifications
All variants come standard with a 165 kW front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor, delivering 330 N·m of peak torque. Acceleration from 0–100 km/h takes 7.8 seconds (1.5L version) and 7.0 seconds (1.5T version). Two engine options are available: a 1.5L Atkinson-cycle engine (72 kW) and a 1.5T turbocharged engine (115 kW / 230 N·m), both paired with an E-CVT transmission.

Range & Charging
A 32.6 kWh LFP battery pack provides a CLTC pure electric range of 235 km and a combined range of up to 1,630 km. Fast charging from 30% to 80% takes just 15 minutes. The system also supports 6 kW vehicle-to-load (V2L), enabling it to power devices such as induction cookers and projectors.

Low-Battery Performance
With an intelligent energy management system, acceleration degradation under low battery conditions is kept below 0.1 seconds, while highway fuel consumption is as low as 4.2 L/100 km (1.5L version)-effectively eliminating range anxiety.
Intelligent Driving
Full-Scenario Coverage with Maximum Safety Redundancy

The Electra E7 is equipped with the "Xiaoyao Intelligent Driving" assistance system, powered by the Momenta R6 reinforcement learning large model, with both hardware and algorithms positioned in the top-tier of the industry.
>> Hardware Configuration:
The system includes 1 LiDAR, 3 mmWave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and 11 cameras, enabling full coverage of highway, urban, and parking scenarios. The Snapdragon 8775 cockpit-driving integrated chip delivers 144 TOPS of computing power, supporting real-time road modeling and decision-making.
>> Core Functions:
It supports Urban NOA (Navigation on Autopilot), enabling automatic car-following, lane changes, obstacle avoidance, and traffic light navigation. It also offers automatic parking (including parallel, perpendicular, and angled parking spaces), a multi-level takeover warning system, and 24/7 emergency assistance services. The vehicle has achieved both C-NCAP five-star safety rating and IIHS/China Insurance Research Institute top-tier evaluation results.
The launch of the Buick Electra E7 introduces a new model that redefines family mobility standards with four core strengths: American luxury design, spacious large five-seat layout, the True Dragon PHEV Pro system, and full-scenario intelligent driving. Looking ahead, can the Electra E7 become a dark horse in the market by leveraging its combination of over-class product strength and competitive pricing?
