In the highly competitive "red ocean" of the 200,000 RMB mid-to-large new energy SUV market, Dongfeng Nissan is making a strong entry with its all-new model, the Nissan NX8. On March 20, this highly anticipated vehicle will open for pre-sales. With its distinctive exterior design, user-friendly interior features, advanced intelligent technologies, and dual powertrain options, the NX8 is poised to become a strong contender in this segment.
Exterior Design
Paying Tribute to Classics, with Standout Details

The Nissan NX8 blends its own identity while drawing inspiration from successful design elements seen in the market. At the front, it features a family-style design language, highlighted by a 2.4-meter full-width "Starlight Ring" light strip, paired with an illuminated NISSAN logo and a closed-off grille, creating a strong sense of modern technology. While some may see similarities with other models, the design aligns well with current family-oriented market preferences.
A hidden beltline design, typically seen in vehicles priced above RMB 250,000, gives the body a clean and refined appearance, enhancing overall visual appeal. The straight and structured roofline ensures ample rear headroom and cargo space, balancing practicality and comfort.

At the rear, the segmented full-width taillights support dynamic lighting effects and are available as an optional feature. In addition, the NX8 offers six exterior color options, including Monaco Purple and Deep Sea Blue, catering to a variety of aesthetic preferences.
Comfortable Interior
The Return of Physical Buttons, Balancing Comfort and Convenience

Inside the cabin, the Nissan NX8 features a wraparound cockpit paired with a panoramic glass roof, creating a bright and open interior space. Soft-touch materials use a "cream-like surface" texture with rounded-edge design, delivering a warm and refined tactile feel. The combination of beige and black color schemes, along with a 256-color waterfall ambient lighting system, creates a perfectly balanced atmosphere.
A standout feature is the extensive use of physical buttons. Functions such as seat ventilation, heating, and massage can be adjusted through three-level physical controls, while the rear seat fore-aft adjustment also has dedicated buttons-making operation intuitive and convenient, especially for elderly passengers and children.
In terms of displays, a 15.6-inch dual-screen setup is paired with a 63-inch AR-HUD, ensuring clear and accessible navigation information. The two-spoke multifunction steering wheel combined with a column-mounted shifter enhances usability, while the floating center console design adds both style and practicality.
All four seats come standard with ventilation, heating, and massage functions. The front passenger seat supports a 133° zero-gravity mode, and the rear seats can be folded down to create a fully flat 2.1-meter space, offering exceptional comfort and versatility.
Intelligence
Powered by Advanced Chips and Sensors, Leading Smart Driving Performance

In terms of intelligence, the Nissan NX8 delivers impressive performance. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P cockpit chip, ensuring smooth and responsive system operation. The system also features three preset scenario modes that can be switched with a single tap, allowing users to adapt quickly to different driving needs.
On the smart driving side, higher-spec models are equipped with a roof-mounted LiDAR, along with 5 millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and 8 cameras. Utilizing the Momenta intelligent driving solution, the system supports highway and urban NOA (Navigation on Autopilot) as well as full-scenario intelligent parking. This configuration places it at a leading level among joint-venture brands, and it remains highly competitive even compared with domestic brands.
Combined with Nissan's decades of automotive expertise, its intelligent driving capabilities are well worth experiencing firsthand at dealerships.
Power Performance
Dual Options with Worry-Free Range and Charging
The Nissan NX8 offers both range-extended and all-electric powertrain options, with batteries supplied by CATL's LFP "Yundun" cells.
The range-extended version is equipped with a 1.5T range extender + 195 kW electric motor, and comes with three battery capacities: 20.3 kWh, 21.1 kWh, and 37.4 kWh. These deliver WLTC pure electric ranges of 102 km and 185 km, with a combined range exceeding 1,000 km, meeting the needs of both daily commuting and long-distance travel.
The all-electric version is built on an 800V platform and supports CATL's 5C ultra-fast charging, making it the first joint-venture model to adopt this technology. It offers motor outputs of 215 kW or 250 kW, paired with 73 kWh or 81 kWh battery packs, delivering a CLTC range of 565–650 km. With just 5 minutes of charging adding up to 300 km of range, and 12 minutes enough for a week's commute, it provides exceptional charging efficiency.

Chassis Performance
Expert Tuning with Assured Comfort

The Nissan NX8 chassis combines a double-wishbone independent front suspension with a five-link independent rear suspension. Higher-spec models feature CDC electromagnetic suspension, capable of adjusting damping 500 times per second to respond in real time to changing road conditions.
The chassis tuning continues Nissan's "moving big sofa" comfort philosophy, effectively absorbing road bumps and minimizing residual vibrations and unnecessary bounce when passing over speed bumps. Additionally, the NX8 is equipped with an active rear-wheel steering system: at low speeds, the rear wheels turn 3 degrees in the opposite direction, reducing the turning radius to 5.4 meters for enhanced maneuverability; at high speeds during lane changes, the rear wheels turn in the same direction, improving stability.
The Nissan NX8 is about to open for pre-sales, offering consumers a practical and sensible choice. It does not chase flashy gimmicks; instead, it delivers the space, comfort, and safety that a family vehicle truly needs. With its inherent strengths, the NX8 is poised to win consumer recognition and favor in the competitive market ahead.
