Recently, FAW-Volkswagen officially announced that its highly anticipated new Volkswagen Tavendor will make its grand debut on March 31. As a mid-cycle facelift of the current model, the new Talagon brings comprehensive upgrades, with refined and optimized exterior and interior designs, along with the adoption of the powerful fifth-generation EA888 engine, delivering an all-new driving and riding experience for consumers.
Exterior Design
A Blend of Sportiness and Elegance, with Attention to Detail

The new Volkswagen Tavendor blends rugged strength with refined elegance in its exterior design. The front features a large horizontal-bar grille filled with chrome accents, which shine brilliantly under sunlight. Paired with sharp LED headlight clusters, it not only delivers excellent illumination but also ensures high recognizability when lit, highlighting its distinctive identity. The robust front bumper lines, combined with a silver skid plate, add a touch of off-road character and convey a sense of confidence.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 5,007 mm (L) / 2,015 mm (W) / 1,767 mm (H), with a wheelbase of 2,980 mm. With a length exceeding 5 meters and a wheelbase close to 3 meters, it offers a clear advantage in size. The side profile features smooth yet strong lines running through the body, creating a muscular and well-proportioned stance. The floating roof design adds a modern and dynamic touch, complementing the large multi-spoke wheels to enhance its sporty appeal. Chrome window surrounds further emphasize attention to detail and a premium feel.


At the rear, the design is clean and composed, with a full-width LED taillight echoing the front design, enhancing both visual width and nighttime safety. The hidden exhaust layout, combined with a silver rear skid plate, gives the rear a neat and well-organized look, balancing stability with modern style.

The new Volkswagen Tavendor presents a refreshing interior design. Built around Volkswagen's latest cockpit philosophy, it emphasizes practical technology to create a comfortable, future-oriented driving space. Extensive use of soft-touch materials and leather upholstery, complemented by refined trim accents, delivers a smooth and premium feel, eliminating the cheapness of hard plastics and ensuring comfort at every touch.

At the center console, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch floating touchscreen form a striking dual-screen interface. In terms of driver assistance, the new Volkswagen Tavendor delivers strong performance. It is equipped with the IQ. Pilot enhanced driver assistance system, specially optimized for Chinese road conditions. Working together with an 8-megapixel high-definition camera, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and a stereo vision system, it builds a 360-degree perception network with no blind spots, enabling L2+ level autonomous driving functions. Whether on long highway trips or in congested urban traffic, the system provides reliable support, reducing driver fatigue and enhancing overall safety.

Fifth-Generation EA888 Engine for Effortless Performance

In terms of power, the new Volkswagen Tavendor is equipped with the fifth-generation EA888 2.0T turbocharged engine, available in both low- and high-output versions.
>> Low-output version (330TSI): Delivers a maximum power of 137 kW and peak torque of 320 N·m, with a WLTC combined fuel consumption of 7.77L/100 km, balancing performance and efficiency.
>> High-output version (380TSI): Produces 162 kW and 350 N·m of torque, offering stronger performance. It is equipped with the 4MOTION intelligent all-wheel-drive system, achieving 0–100 km/h acceleration in just 9.1 seconds, with a combined fuel consumption of 8.68L/100 km.
All variants are paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (DCT), delivering smooth and quick gear shifts with high transmission efficiency for a dynamic driving experience.
In terms of chassis, the Talagon adopts a front MacPherson and rear multi-link independent suspension setup, finely tuned for a solid and stable ride. It effectively absorbs road imperfections, ensuring comfort, while providing strong support during high-speed cornering or emergency maneuvers, enhancing stability and driver confidence.
