On June 12, BAIC officially launched the BJ30 Traveler High-Light Edition, introducing two variants: the Gasoline High-Light Edition and the Hybrid High-Light Edition. As a new addition to the BJ30 Traveler lineup, the High-Light Edition delivers comprehensive upgrades in design, features, and performance. With its rugged boxy styling, class-above equipment, and the full capability of a hybrid four-wheel-drive system, this light off-road SUV sets a new benchmark in the RMB 100,000-class segment.
Exterior Design
Rugged Boxy Styling with More Refined Details

The BJ30 Traveler High-Light Edition retains its iconic boxy silhouette while introducing a series of design enhancements. At the front, the traditional five-slot grille has been replaced by a body-color decorative grille, paired with blacked-out LED headlamps for a more modern and aggressive appearance. The front bumper has been redesigned with a wider and more robust profile, while the fog lamps have been upgraded to LED units, further enhancing the vehicle's visual presence and overall cohesiveness.
Viewed from the side, the BJ30 features clean, straight lines that emphasize its rugged character. Flared fenders, wide black wheel arches, and exclusive Star-Ring alloy wheels reinforce its off-road-inspired stance. Hidden A-, B-, and D-pillars create a floating-roof effect, while roof rails and a factory-installed climbing ladder come standard.
The vehicle measures 4,730 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,790 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. It offers a ground clearance of 215 mm, an approach angle of 25 degrees, a departure angle of 30 degrees, and a breakover angle of 21 degrees, delivering class-leading off-road capability and obstacle-crossing performance.
At the rear, the BJ30 Traveler High-Light Edition is equipped with vertically oriented taillights, an externally mounted storage box, and a power hands-free tailgate. Three exclusive exterior colors have also been introduced: Lava Orange, Sky Dome Blue, and Glacier Gray.
Interior & Features
Technology and Comfort in Perfect Balance

Inside, the BJ30 Traveler High-Light Edition is equipped with a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, delivering a modern and technology-focused cabin experience. The infotainment system supports dual-zone voice recognition, smartphone connectivity, and access to the Huawei AppGallery, while a 50W wireless charging pad is conveniently integrated beneath the center console.
Comfort features are equally impressive. The vehicle comes equipped with 64-color ambient lighting, heated and ventilated front seats, three-position memory function for the driver's seat, a heated steering wheel, a 10-speaker HiFi audio system, and a panoramic sunroof. It also features a rain-sensing automatic window-closing function, reflecting BAIC's attention to detail and commitment to enhancing the overall user experience.
Power Performance
Gasoline and Hybrid Options, Hybrid Version Accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 6.59s

The gasoline version of the BJ30 Traveler High-Light Edition is powered by a 1.5T engine delivering a maximum output of 138 kW and a peak torque of 305 N·m, paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. It features a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout, with WLTC fuel consumption of 8.06 L/100 km.
The hybrid version adopts a three-powertrain, four-wheel-drive architecture, consisting of a 1.5T hybrid engine (116 kW), a front electric motor (130 kW), and a rear electric motor (70 kW). The system delivers a combined output of 301 kW and 685 N·m of torque, enabling acceleration from 0–100 km/h in 6.59 seconds, with WLTC fuel consumption of 6.45 L/100 km.
It is paired with a dedicated DHT hybrid transmission and equipped with an on-demand AWD system, an electronic center differential lock, and electronic traction control for all four wheels. The rear motor output has been upgraded from 55 kW to 70 kW, further enhancing power response and off-road capability. The vehicle also features an AGM battery with a lifespan three times longer than a conventional battery, improving durability and reliability.
Safety Performance
The BJ30 Traveler High-Light Edition features a body structure with 63.4% high-strength steel, and a torsional rigidity of 24,800 N·m/deg, validated through 4 million kilometers of extreme environment durability testing, ensuring a solid foundation for passive safety.
The hybrid version is equipped with an ATS all-terrain control system, offering four driving modes: snow, mud, sand, and wading. Combined with an electronic center differential lock and four-wheel electronic traction control, it delivers significantly stronger escape and traction capability in complex road conditions, far surpassing conventional urban SUVs in its class.

The BJ30 Traveler has already been thoroughly validated by a large base of real-world users. Features such as a factory-installed climbing ladder, a center differential lock with traction control, and 6.59-second acceleration are not unusual in 200,000-yuan-class vehicles. However, the BJ30 Traveler High-Light Edition manages to bring all of these capabilities into a 100,000-yuan-class boxy SUV. For users looking for a vehicle that can handle both daily urban commuting and weekend off-road adventures, this car is almost free of shortcomings.
