In the fiercely competitive arena of mid-size new energy SUVs, the BYD Song L DM-i has consistently topped the sales charts. Now, the new Song L DM-i has been unveiled, with an expected official launch on October 16th. What surprises will this facelift bring?
Vehicle appearance

Front of vehicle
The new BYD Song L DM-i maintains the family-style design. Its wide-mouthed front grille with a dot-matrix design creates a striking visual impact. Sharp headlights are connected by a continuous chrome strip, and the "Song" logo is striking and instantly recognizable. The front bumper features a flat, trapezoidal air intake with a two-section banner structure and vertical air ducts on either side, creating a powerful impression.
Side of vehicle
The body lines are sleek, with a unique floating roof effect. The waistline complements the side skirts and fender ridges, creating a sense of layering and muscularity. The semi-recessed door handles are stylish and modern. Based on the current Smart Driving Edition, its length, width, and height are 4780/1898/1670mm, with a wheelbase of 2782mm. Positioned as a mid-size SUV, the new model's dimensions are expected to remain relatively unchanged.


Rear of vehicle
The rear of the car features a small spoiler, high-mounted brake lights, and continuous taillights, making it highly recognizable when illuminated. The smoked rear bumper and silver-gray anti-scuff plates create a sporty look.

The BYD Song L DM-i's interior maintains the family-style aesthetic. The center console retains the three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, embedded full LCD instrument panel, and floating center console display. The electronic gear lever has been upgraded to an electronic hand-shifter, the physical buttons have been repositioned, and a wireless charging panel is available, creating a simple and stylish design.
In terms of intelligence, it may be equipped with the DiLink in-car intelligent system and the BYD D100 car computer chip, and its smart cockpit features are expected to be upgraded. The "God's Eye C" assisted driving function will also be upgraded to support map-free high-speed navigation and valet parking, and the City Memory driving function will be updated via over-the-air (OTA) before the end of the year.
For passengers, the imitation leather seats feature power adjustment for the driver and front passenger, heated and ventilated front seats, and a power memory driver's seat. Automatic air conditioning, a panoramic sunroof, multi-layer soundproof glass for the front seats, and rear side privacy glass are all standard features, along with an onboard refrigerator for enhanced comfort.

Battery life
The new BYD Song L DM-i continues to feature the fifth-generation DM system, consisting of a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine and an electric motor. The engine boasts a maximum power of 74kW, the electric motor a maximum power of 160kW, and the transmission is matched to an E-CVT. Battery options include 12.9kWh, 18.3kWh, and 26.6kWh lithium iron phosphate battery packs. The CLTC pure electric range was previously 75km, 112km, and 160km. The 75km range variant may be discontinued, with the 112km model upgraded to 130km and the 160km model to 200km.

Chassis
The chassis utilizes a front McPherson independent suspension and a rear four-link independent suspension structure, with the addition of the Yunnian-C intelligent damping body control system, ensuring highly anticipated intelligent driving and handling performance.
